Coinbase VPN: privacy and security while you trade

VPN Super encrypts your connection while you check your portfolio or trade on Coinbase, on public Wi-Fi, hotel networks, or a coworking space. It won't get you into Coinbase somewhere Coinbase itself doesn't offer service. See how that works below before you connect.

Get set up in a few minutes

Three steps to a private, encrypted connection for Coinbase and everything else you do online.

Pro tip: If you're traveling outside your home country, connecting through a VPN Super server back in your home country can help your Coinbase login match what your account expects, which lowers the odds of a security hold. This works because the server matches where you actually live, not because it changes it. It won't help if the restriction is tied to your account's verified country of residence rather than your current location.

Why is Coinbase blocked?

People use "Coinbase is blocked" to describe a few different things, and they're not the same problem. Most of what gets called a block is Coinbase's own decision about who it serves, not a government or ISP cutting off the network. Here's the difference, case by case.

Coinbase not working with VPN? Here's how to fix it

Most connection trouble with Coinbase comes down to server choice or an account-side security check, not censorship. Start here before assuming the network is the problem.

IssueSolution guidance
Coinbase flagged my login or put a hold on my account after I connected through VPN Super

This is usually Coinbase's own security system reacting to a location mismatch between your server and your verified account details, not a VPN Super issue. Try connecting through a server in your actual home country to see if that resolves it. If your account stays on hold, that's an account-level review only Coinbase support can clear, VPN Super can't act on it for you.

Coinbase pages load slowly or time out while connected

Switch to Fastest Location or manually try a server closer to you, then reload. If one server is congested, another nearby one usually clears it up.

Not sure which server to pick

For speed, use Fastest Location or check the latency shown next to each server in the location list and pick a low one. For account consistency, a server in your home country is usually the safer choice.

VPN Super won't connect on public Wi-Fi at a cafe or coworking space

Try a different protocol from the options on your platform, or switch to a different nearby server. Some public networks restrict certain protocols.

Video or ID verification on Coinbase won't complete while connected

A stable, low-latency connection helps here, try Fastest Location or a server close to you. If verification still fails, that's Coinbase's own review process and their support team is the right place to follow up.

I'm in a country Coinbase restricts for compliance reasons and I want it to work anyway

VPN Super can't make Coinbase available where Coinbase itself has decided not to offer service, for sanctions, licensing, or domestic regulatory reasons. See the FAQ below for the full explanation, and for why trying anyway carries real account risk.

I can't find VPN Super in my country's app store

VPN Super's own iOS and Android apps aren't distributed through China's, Iran's, or Russia's app stores. If you're in one of those countries, VPN Super isn't something you can install there in the first place.

Why VPN Super works for Coinbase

Built for privacy and security while you trade, not for getting around Coinbase's own rules.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers, including the ones where the honest response is "it depends on why."

  • Usually, no. Most Coinbase country restrictions are Coinbase's own compliance decision, sanctions, licensing, or domestic regulatory rules, not a network block, so a VPN doesn't change whether Coinbase is legally allowed to serve you, and trying to get around it can get your account closed. Coinbase's Prohibited Regions page is direct about this: "customers attempting to log in from one of these prohibited regions will be prevented from accessing our services." The one exception is a confirmed case of a government blocking the network itself, like Nigeria in February 2024, where a VPN did address the actual mechanism. Even then, Coinbase's own account rules still apply.
